About This Program
The BevelUp Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral IV Program provides clinicians with a structured, evidence-based approach to ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous (USGPIV) insertion. Designed for healthcare professionals caring for patients with difficult intravenous access (DIVA), the program combines ultrasound fundamentals, vascular assessment, real-time needle guidance, and insertion mechanics into a practical clinical framework focused on patient safety and first-attempt success.
Participants learn ultrasound physics and knobology, upper extremity vascular anatomy, vein assessment, probe handling, dynamic needle tip positioning (DNTP), catheter selection, and complication prevention through a combination of didactic instruction, simulation-based learning, and hands-on deliberate practice. Emphasis is placed on vessel health and preservation, reduction of unnecessary insertion attempts, procedural consistency, and evidence-informed vascular access decision-making.
The course moves beyond basic task-based instruction to develop the technical skill, psychomotor coordination, and clinical judgment necessary to perform safe and effective ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertion across a variety of patient populations and clinical environments.
BevelUp LLC is an approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 18179, for 7 contact hours.
